35. Pre-Trial Hearings and Pre-Trial Conferences
All criminal cases scheduled for jury trial in Boone
County shall be set for a pre-trial hearing on the law day no less than one
week preceding the trial date. Any preliminary matters, including pleas of
guilty and pre-trial motions, shall be noticed up and heard as provided in
Local Court Rules 2.3, 33.1, and 34.2. The defendant shall be required to be
present for the pre-trial hearing.
A pre-trial conference may be set in civil or criminal
jury cases by the trial judge on the court's own motion, or at the request
of either party, in order to clarify issues or expedite the trial.
